Dit prachtige eiland is ideaal voor een onvergetelijke huwelijksreis, exotische zomervakantie of backpack avontuur. Koh Samui is zeer geschikt voor een tropische strandvakantie en om te snorkelen en zwemmen. De nationale sport van Thailand, het Muay Thai boksen, is ook vertegenwoordigd op het eiland. In verschillende stadions wordt een aantal keer per week gebokst. Op buureiland Phangan wordt elke maand de beroemde full-moon party gehouden, maar ook op Koh Samui is het nachtleven zeer levendig.
